Didn't I already have a cold this winter?

Woke up feeling like crap this morning. Now this may sound bad, but it was nice waking up with someone who also feels like crap. Pascal is also sick with the same cold I have. I originally got it from him who in turn got it from Dave, since Dave has a lovely habbit of coughing everywhere and not covering his mouth. Thanks Dave...Today I was planning to go up to where the dogsledding company is with Ashly and show her the dogs. I think that plan is out since it hurts to blink so I can imagine what it will feel like to walk! Maybe I'll go later but I doubt it.

The eye appointment in Banff went well I guess. I still have this black floater in my eye which the doctor said was normal since pretty much everyone has one. It's annoying though cause every time I look with my right eye, it automatically follows with a bit of delay. I forgot how much I hate going to get an eye exam. Having to look through that little machine that blows air into your eye. Love that! Not to mention getting the drops put in my eyes to dialate them (which stings quite a bit) All in all i'm glad I went cause if I didn't I would have been worried as to what it was.

I think we picked a vacation destination....Las Vegas! We still are looking at packages and such but out of all the places we thought of Las Vegas seemed like a good choice.

It's now getting closer to when we have to leave. Only 22 more days. We think we might arrive in Nova Scotia (provided the Visa gets approved) on that Friday or Saturday, not sure yet.
Can't wait to see everyone again! Looking forward to a lot of things by getting back to NS for a bit.

Tomorrow we head into Banff to pick up a few things and do our taxes..and maybe go see Watchmen. If I don't pass out from this cold.

Well that's it for now!

Woo hooo!

So for the past couple of weeks I've notice I have this black little floater in my right eye that comes and goes. So, due to the many persuasive people in my office, I have booked an eye appointment to see the optomitrist in Banff tomorrow afternoon..oh goody, I can't tell you how excited I am about this. This just rocks my world, can I just say that. But some good news came today when I got home from work and checked my email. The general manager from Fox Harbour wrote and said that Pascal got his LMO approved! Woo hooo! Part 2 of this stressful process is now done. So now we just have to notify Immigration Canada to start the Visa extension approval process which takes about roughly 20 days. So excited! I'll keep everyone updated as to any new information!
Gonna hang out with Ashly tonight. Have a bit of a girly night! Anyway should have a little nap before a head out to supper.
Later :)

Time is going fast

I can't believe it is almost the end of March. This month has gond by very fast! Just 29 more days and I will be donw my job here at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise, AB. The tiem here has been really good even though my job always hasn't been. Soon i will be back in Nova Scotia working at the Fox Harbour resort in Wallace (Don't ask me where that is cause i still don't know) hopefully with Pascal as well. We are going to send his visa application in on Monday even though we are suppose to wait for LMO to go through. We just don't want to run out of time.

Tomorrow we are having William over for dinner. Pascal wants to make a risotto hmmm! I'm a little sad that William is leaving in a coupel of weeks. I've really enjoyed working with him. He is very layed back and fun loving. I was plannig on taking pascal with me to the pool tomorrow afternoon but i think we may have to help Ev and Ashly move over to Moraine circle. This is so stupid. so after the St. Patty's day party on Tuesday, Everett and Ashly along with their other two roommates. They had a meeting with Chuck and he told them that their roommates could stay since they weren't there at the party but Ev n Ash have to move out. We weren't even that loud at the party according to the police officier who was called to the scene (who now everyone thinks was Alfredo since he was spotted outside on the phone quite a bit and now is also believe to have deflated Monika's car tire too) Such a jerk! Now everyone at the hotel is very cold to Alfredo since all this drama that went down was mainly his fault. The part that is kind of ironic is that Everett and Ashly are going to be his neighbour over in Moraine. Everett said he is going to make his life a living hell! Hopefully the police won't be called for that.

Another 3 days off starts tomorrow which is nice I can't complain but I think it would be nicer to have my vacatoin pay. These days off go towards our vacation pay..and speaking of vacation, Pascal and I haven't decided where to go yet. Down south would be nice and all inclusive, wouldn't have to worry about expenses too much. Las Vegas is also appealing, it's just that with the visa issue, coming back into Canada for Pascal might be a problem since things are not finalized yet. Vancouver is also another idea and could be done in the amount of time we would want to spend there, it's just Pas has been there already (not for very long mind you) and the weather might not be that nice when we get there. Oh well, we'll get it all figured out I'm sure.

Well I should probably get back to work, even though it's really not that busy here tonight. Commencing staring at the wall for another 2 and half hours :D

Happy St. Patty's Day..well i think it was?

I'm going to do this in point form since I don't have a lot of time before I have to head to work.

* Just had 3 days off, awesome! Have to go back to work, not awesome :(

* Sunday was relaxing. Pas and I lazed around, he made me dinner, talked to some family and friends on the phone, than at the end of the night Pas and I watched "Zac and Miri make a porno" (very funny and cute)

* Monday was also relaxing. Pas went to the hill with Everett and I stayed at home and looked up travel destinations. I've been looking at Vancouver, Las Vegas and Cancun..decisions, decisions (all based on money, time and interest of course)

* Went to the pool that day as well over at the Lake Louise Inn. Did some laps and relaxed in the hot tub. So nice!

*Came back hung out with Ashly, Everett and Pascal and attempted to watch a movie but Pas was really tired from snowboarding so we just went home.

* Ended up watching Transporter 3 back at Pas'. (Side note: Jason Stateham is soooo sexy!)

* Tuesday, go up early to go dogsledding! Yay! Pics are on Facebook, but here is one of my favourites. It was really good except the taxi driver was 20 minutes late picking us up and then proceeded to tell me that it was basically my fault for not calling ahead of time. I explained my side very well. I told him the dispatcher said it wasn't a problem to be picked up at 9:10am and that he was late. I hate confrontation so I said very little but made it a point that I wasn't impressed. He did apologize but not very well. Won't be using the taxi again I guess. Oh well, Only here for another month.

* Dog sledding was awesome! Highly recommend people do it if they get the chance. Than after all was said and done we had a nice walk back to the village.

* I spent the rest of the afternoon at home relaxing and then had a nap and went over to Everett and Ashly's St. Patrick's day party. Here's the short story of what happened....

Everett, really drunk. Ashly, trying to get him to calm down, she's also pretty drunk. Lots of people, had a good time talking. Maritime music played, sang along and drank some more. More people drinking and getting drunk including me. Dave is there, trouble! Trys to fight Everett while getting naked (A Dave classic) Dave calms down finally. People still partying and getting drunk. I am now drunk at this point. Jonathan shows up. I nominate him as my conscience. Pas shows up relunctantly since he is sober while everyone else is drunk. Do some dancing. Ashly, Amy and I all go to the bathroom. Police show up. We hide in the bathroom. I peek out the door to see what's go and find Pas talking to the officier. They seem to be smiling and talking nicely. Police leave, Benoit shows up ( Hotel security) Everett trys to talk to Benoit. Benoit is not impressed and leaves telling us all we need to be quite. Come out of the bathroom. Dave wakes up and starts to cause a commosion again. People try to talk to him but he only wants to talk to Pas. Pas convinces him to go home with Nobu and Mike. It works, Dave leaves but almost has another fight with Everett. Meanwhile a girl from works recently ex boyfriend shows up and starts to harass her, she wants him to go so the guys throw him out too. She leaves the party and finds out that he has slashed one of her tires. Nice! She walks home. Alot of people leave and so do I. We all go back over to the Pinnacle parking lot and talk about what had happened. Jonathan takes me home to Pas' place where I crash eventually. Wake up today and feeling fine. Guess that wasn't a short story after all. Crap! gotta go to work.

Thank God it's Friday

Sitting at the reservations desk here, bored again, so I thought I would take the time to write a little something...

I wasn't really hungover at all after Kareokee on Tuesday (yay for that!) I worked at 2:30 that day which was nothing spectacular. After I came home there was a few people standing around outside having some drinks (In honor of Pascal's pre-birthday bash) It was going pretty well until Dave showed up, drunk, again! That boy has a problem! Pascal was really worried that he was going to ruin the evening and maybe crash on their couch in #10. The problem with that is that Dave usually gets naked (very scary thought) and throws up, usually all over the place. When everyone saw him coming they all automatically switched to speaking German so that he couldn't understand them. They told me that they were going to hang out at #12 so that is where people started to head gradually. Pascal was giving Dave the speech about how he was basically selfish by being drunk all the time and how it was hurting his friendships, although I think this was not getting through to him whatsoever. Feeling concerned for Dave cause he didn't want him to walk home by himself in -25 degree weather thinking he might pass out, Pas wanted to help him home. I expressed to Pas that I didn't want him to go cause it was A) very cold, B) it was his party and c) walking Dave alone was not a good idea since he has these mood swings and wasn't sure what he was going to do. So I said that I was going to go with him which of course he said no cause it was cold. The end decision was that Dave said he was going home alone and he didn't need help from anyone. In the end it all worked out, Pas got to have his relaxed gathering that night with his friends, no one had to freeze and Dave got home alright. That was Wednesday night.

Pas birthday wasn't as eventful as I thought it was going to be, but he said that was ok since he just wanted to hangout with me. He didn't want to go to dinner so I had to come up with another idea for a birthday gift. I am treating him to a dogsledding trip this Tuesday. Something we can both do together and I know it will be a lot of fun!

Today is my Friday, as well as Pas. I have 3 days off Yippie! Monday we are planning on going to Banff to do Pas' taxes and then go see a movie. I hope the weather is OK. Then Tuesday is the dogsledding and St. Patrick's Day (should be interesting)

That's it for now :)

I sang my little drunk heart out

So last night I went to Shauna's baby shower, which was kind of different since she has already had her baby (which he is sooo adorable!) It was pretty good though! Patricia went all out with the food, very yummy! I stayed for a bit but then I wanted to get going cause I was heading to Kareokee to see to Jonathan sing. So I headed over to explorer's and found Pascal and Martin waiting, which was a pleasant surprise since I didn't expect to see them there. Jonathan and Ryan showed up and then Jess, Jeanine and Nick showed up. What a fun night! Jonathan belted out some great tunes, ie..Elton John, Inrique Eglasias, R.E.M. And yes, even I got up and sang. It was easy with Pascal feeding rum and cokes all night :) I sang Sheryl Crow's "A Change would do you Good" I really had wanted to do it but needed some liquid courage. Even Nick came up and danced with me while I sang. Pascal gave me a thumbs up during my song which was really encouraging. He said I did very well and didn't know I could sing like that (even though I didn't think it was anything special) Made me feel really nice :)
As the night went on so did my drinks and my slurring hehe...the boys got me home alright which was good cause it was fricken cold out last night (at least -30) Can't wait for next week when we get to do it all over again.
Tomorrow is Pas' birthday which he has off :o) For his birthday I am treating him to a dogsledding trip for next week. Something we can both do together! I'm looking forward to it and I think Pas will to, even though he hates it when I spend money on him..hehe oh well.
That's it for now, still at work and bored bored bored :(

Snowshoeing

That's right, we went snowshoeing! It wasn't too bad but it is still quite a workout, holy! Pas and I went with Carter up to a place called Island Lake. It's about and hour and a half in total..not a really long hike but it was good enough. In this picture here we are in front of Morant's curve, which is one of the most photographed sights due to the scenery and the train that runs by. People wait hours for the train to come by so they can get the perfect picture. You can see the curve better in the second picture. We got to see footprints from snowhares, lynx and even a cougar (we think) Really neat! It wasn't the sunniest day but it was still good to go out there and try something new. We walked across the lake to the island part and then back down. Not a bad little trip. Afterwards we came back and hung out with Ashly and Ev. Did our weekly ritual of Pas and Everett cooking supper for us. This week it was Rushti, another Swiss dish. Yum! Really good! Than played a few drinking games, got drunk, and then taught them how to play rhummy. We then left there and Pas and I went back and watched Loaded Weapon (the spoof from Lethal Weapon) It was pretty funny with Emelio Esteves and Samuel L. Jackson.

Today Pas went to the hill with Everett and I'm just chilling out. Found out that the lady at Fox Harbour (Joann, really nice) sent off Pas' LMO application today, YAY! So now we can send off Pas' visa forms tomorrow! Once it is filled in and sent out, it will just be the waiting game. Prayers, fingers crossed, etc from everyone please :D Thanks!

Taking a stand..well at least a mini one

So last night Pas came over and was kind of down in the dumps. But it's always the same thing that bothers him...work! The kitchen is really bad to work in, they don't get tips, the servers walk away with at least over a $100 every night and it's really not fair to the cooks since they work just as hard if not harder (for sure harder and longer) than the servers. So it was really bumming him out so he thought of something he would like to do...he wanted to make a facebook group. Basically just a place where people can go to rant about some of the things about work ie//lack of tips for some departments (including front desk) no discounts in the pub, working back to back shift (2pm till 11pm and than back in at 6:30am the next day) which technically is against the labour laws here in Alberta. So I helped him do up the group and posted it on Facebook. We invited quite a few former and current employees of the Post and so far we have about 14 people who joined. Some people won't cause they don't want to get in trouble and I understand that cuase I had the same hesitations but please remember people that this is only Facebook! Not a reveloution. It made Pas feel better and I support him. I felt after it was done that maybe we shouldn't have done it but at the same time it's a matter of principal. We've not said anything bad about the Post or its management we just have some matters that we would like to be heard on. Maybe a little voice can be heard once it's joined by other little voices :)

Update

I kind of like this point form thing so lets use that to break down the week thus far...

* Pas, and I went with Mel, Simon, Laurent and a few others to Calgary to watch the flames get beat by Tampa Bay surprisingly but it was still alot of fun.
* Went shopping and bought a new MP3 player and bookbag. Pas is really fun to shop with :D
* Had drinks afterwards a place called Melrose Cafe and Grill, nice but was really tired at this point. Had to laugh cause Laurent wanted us all to go to a strip club hehehe Some of the girls turned pale!
* On Monday Marko, Pas' friend from Cheeseland, came back from Vancouver to hang out with us one more day before he returned home.
* Pas and Everett made us bison and duck with a side caesar for supper Yum! :)
* Tuesday I worked and it was boring....
* Wednesday I had off and did nothing cause I wasn't feeling well so that was boring too :(
* Today work was, guess what boring (when you don't really have any guests in the hotel it doesn't make your day go by fast)

News was broken to us this week (even though front desk knew before alot of other departments) that the hotel is closing for 2 weeks at the end of April because of the lack of business. This cause mixed reactions. For some it's not a big deal since they were already leaving before then. For others it sucks since they either weren't planning on leaving till sometime in early May and now have to change flight plans or were counting on working for that time cause they need the money. For me it's a good thing since that means (hopefully) I'll get to leave around the 20th of April. Praying that that is the case.
I wrote an email to the general manager at Fox harbour a couple of days ago stating, in a polite way, that we need to send off Pas' LMO and Visa applications soon as possible cause of the time factor. He wrote back saying that another person was going to be taking care of all of it but we just need to wait for her to contact us so she can ask Pas a few questions to complete the application form. Can you say FRUSTRATING!!! I understand they are busy but I will rest a little bit easier once I know that this application has been sent off and then all we have to do is just wait. When all is said and done and if this gets all approved, then we can really celebrate!
Positive thoughts everyone :)
Well that's it for now. More point forms later.
